The Pinwheel Galaxy

Here’s a more colourful one I got by splitting and recombining the red blue and green colour channels. This seems to be a popular colour-scheme for galaxies!

This is the pinwheel galaxy in some pretty good conditions for photographing stars - you can generally tell its good as everything gets covered in dew and if its cold - frost! The Pinwheel is huge = twice the diameter of the Milky Way and has a bout s trillion stars. In 2023 there was a supernova in the Pinwheel which is a huge explosion if a star - we could see it as a new bright star even though it was 21 million light years way! I took some pics in 2023 of that so I’m popping them here too :)
