Whirlpool Galaxy
It’s Galaxy season when Canis Major, Leo and other galaxy rich constellations are in a good place much of the night. Here’s the Whirlpool Galaxy which is just off the tip of the handle of the plough part of Canis Major. The smaller blob here is another galaxy which passed through it and is circling back round for another go in half a billion years or so. This picture is 150 * 1 minute frames. I need to do some the fancy calibration stuff to this to get a better overall picture but it’s a nice start to the season :)
Here goes with the calibration frames. I’ll do a post under the science section soon talking about what these are and why - but basically cameras have their flaws and you can compensate for them to an extent using these frames.
