Northern Lights January 2026
On 19th January there was a Grade 4 geomagnetic storm at the right time, and earth rotation in the right place, to give Gloucestershire about 2 hours of Northern lights. My one tip on this is to bring your phone - if you open the camera app and look at the screen you can both take some pics and also it shows where the lights are much better than you can see them. In a weak show like this we mostly see green because our eyes are most sensitive to it. These were taken 11- 11.30 at Cheltenham Racecourse in the middle of roadworks.
